Hot Wheels Challenge Sets World Record - Hot Wheels have been a hot toy for a long time. But for 40-plus years, the loop the cars raced through was toy-sized. You could never imagine doing that in real life, right?
Wrong.
Set your eyes on the Double-Loop Challenge. At more than six stories high it’s the biggest double-loop ever attempted.
Team Hot Wheels set a Guinness World Record at the X-Games in Los Angeles this weekend for their feat on life-sized replicas they built. The Double Loop Dare track is modeled after a toy track set called Double Dare Snare.
Yellow driver Tanner Foust and green driver Greg Tracy safely completed the stunt, which was the first-ever of its kind.
“You have to enter the loop at 52 miles an hour or so. Best way I could describe it is like driving into a brick wall,” Tracy explained.
He’s spent his entire life with Hot Wheels and was pumped to do the loops in real-life.
“It was absolutely the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” Tracy beamed.
Like a toy come to life, they did it. Both cars made the loop at more than 50 miles an hour, with green car landing first. Just like those Hot Wheels toy cars, except this was the real deal. ( ABC News )
